Draft Act 537 Plan update

Sewage facilities plan review and public comments

Public Notice - The Board of Supervisors of West Earl Township proposes to adopt its Sewage Facilities Plan for the Township pursuant to the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act, Act 537 of 1966, as amended (Plan) following a 30-day public comment period.

The Plan is required to address institutional arrangements regarding the purchase of wastewater collection and treatment facilities of the West Earl Township Sewer Authority by the Lancaster Area Sewer Authority (LASA), and to evaluate alternatives for providing public sewer service to previously identified areas. These areas include Farmersville, Fairmount, including the Fairmount Homes retirement community, and Turtle Hill Road area including the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center, Brownstown Campus and the Conestoga Campground Association.

The selected alternative is to extend the LASA collection system utilizing low-pressure sewer along Turtle Hill Road and to Farmersville and Fairmount by 2027. Areas not designated for public sewer service will continue to be monitored by the West Earl Township On-Lot Disposal System Management Program.

Individuals interested in reviewing a copy of the Plan may do so either at the West Earl Township building during normal business hours (Monday through Fri- day 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM), or by viewing on the Township website. The public may submit written comments on the proposed Plan, either by mail to the West Earl Township Board of Supervisors, 157 West Metzler Road, PO Box 787, Brownstown, PA 17508, or by email to Manager@westearltwp.org during the 30-day public comment period which shall commence on Mon- day, June 27, 2022, and terminate end of business day on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
